Design Communication Orthographic sketches

Orthographic projections are created by projecting information on a picture plane. This direct projection of an object's dimension allows orthographic projections to retain shape and proportion, making these drawings accurate and precise.

We are given a task to test our understanding of orthographic projection. The object I got was 'N'.

Below is the sketch of the orthographic projection.

As I have done orthographic projection during my highschool years. The lesson wasn't hard to catch.

Design Communication - Watercolor Rendering

A demo regarding watercolor rendering was given by Mr Redzwan during the class. We were given a brief on the tools like brushes and felt tip pen usage on watercolor and the effects they could give. As I am still a beginner on using watercolor, the rendering smudged very badly and the end product came out quite badly.

Design Communication Assignment 3

We were told to watch a movie and produce a sketchnote using the 6 fundamentals for visual notetaking taught on the last class. The movie genre given for the task is comedy.

The movie I chose was Scooby-Doo The Movie.

Below will be my sketchnote:

Design Communication - Assignment 2

We are given an assignment to test our skills on the sketching skills and tonal values. From the previous assignment, I learned more on how to control the strokes and the range of pencils i should use for a drawing. From the objects category given I chose shoes.

Pencil range: 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B.

Below is the picture of shoe i chose:

I only used hatching for this assignment to see how much I improved on this technique. Eventough  I improved compared to the last assignment, I'm still lacking in skills and needs more work on making the object more proportionate and brings more volume to it.

Design Communication - Assignment 1

Assignment 1 - Expression in Sketching

We are required to produce a drawing of 6 random items by using the 4 sketching techniques which is stippling, hatching, cross hatching, and scribbling without drawing outlines of the items.

Below will be my arrangement for the 6 items:

For my first attempt, the proportion of the objects was a little off while some of the objects are quite blur. And the overall drawing was monotonous.

First Attempt

The second attempt was slightly better than the first one although it is not counted as a good work. The proportion and tones were slightly better than the first one.
