Interior Design Projects 1 - Rhythm Wall

Assignment 1 Part 2 - Rhythm Wall

In continuation to the previous assignment, we are told to produce a rhythm wall based on our understanding of the music genre.

Since dance pop is quite general, I chose to do it's sub genre - Bubblegum pop.

Bubblegum Pop is a music genre which is used to appeal teenagers and the mood of the music is lively and cute while its characteristics are simple, repetitive.

"SWEET TEMPTATION"

I used the keywords:
  • Vivacious - Bright, playful and lively.
  • Repetitive - Simple and repetitive chords.
  • Feminine - Soft
The elements i used are lines, shape and size.

To create a relation between the keywords, I used lines and circles as the basic of my design. When circle and a repetition lines are put together, a wave like structure is produced. Slits are cut in between the lines to create an expandable structure that produce a semi sphere.

The repetition of the semi sphere creates an illusion of bubbles popping out of a flat surface which can express the cute and lively atmosphere of bubblegum pop songs. The "bubbles" can also be pushed towards the opposite direction and create an interactive wall structure which relates to the playful melody.

Lastly, the material I used to produce the rhythm wall is Eva Foam. It is a soft material which looks like marshmallow that can bring out the feeling of femininity as women are often seen as soft and delicate.

I chose Sweet Temptation as my tagline to express cute seduction.
