Detailing and Working Drawings - Individual Reflection (Measured Drawing Report)

We were given a group assignment to produce a measured drawing report according to the site we are using for our final assignment of interior design projects 2 which is MPSJ 3K Subang Jaya. We are required to produce a report and measured drawings based on our observations and study on site.

Working in a group of 4, work is distributed equally with Me and Steven doing the drawings while Kuaibing and Sachi do the report. Work during the first few week were going slow as the information and measurements gathered on site was messed up. We had no choice but to return to the site again and again until we gathered enough information.

During the last few days before the submission, one of our group members couldn't produce the report as she was not feeling well. To solve the problem, we redistribute the work with me doing the measured drawings while Steven and Sachi do the report.

As the submission date was close, and we were rushing to finish everything on time, We helped each other with the work. While Steven was helping me out with the drawings, I also contributed in report writing which includes the vegetation, and caption writing.

As Kuai Bing was feeling better, she also helped me out with the drawings before submission.

Below will be the measured drawings produced for the assignment.

Detailing And Working Drawings - Singapore Trip Observation Sketch

We were required to produce 3 observation sketch based on 3 different type of joinery during our Singapore trip. The 3 joinery we need to find and sketch it down are nuts and bolts, riveted and welding. Since we visited several places in Singapore, it is not hard to find furniture with the 3 type of joinery mentioned earlier. Below will be my observation sketch from the trip.

Detailing and Working Drawings - Observation Sketch

We are given a task from our lecturer to go for a site visit and explore different furniture and produce observation sketches of a table, chair and cabinet. The selected furnitures must have different materials to ensure we could understand more on the joinery details and features. For my site visit, I went to IKEA Damansara.

Detailing And Working Drawings - Interior Detailing (Furniture)

In our first lecture, we are introduced to the basics of detail drawings and ways of writing appropriate specification for the drawings. A specification is a detailed description on the sizes, materials, method of joinery, and finishes used in a furniture for the execution of work. This is to make easy for contractors, clients and construction workers to understand the drawing.

We were given a task to produce detailed drawings and specifications of 3 furniture from the lecture slides. This is to increase our understanding on writing a specification. As I was struggling to write the specifications for my sketch, I've realized that we are also learning to observe and study the details of an object, putting things that we've learned during the past year into our work.

Detailing And Working Drawings - Drafting Table Observation Sketch

For the first journal assignment, we were told to produce an observation sketch of the drafting table in the design studio. Since we haven't learn about detail drawings, we are told only to sketch without measurements. It is an exercise to test on our sketching skills and ability of capturing details of objects around us.

Interior Design Projects 1 - Memorablia

Assignment 3 - Memorablia

Memorablia is our final assignment and it is like a compilation of what we have done for our 1st and 2nd assignment. We are to design a retail that promotes our music and sells item that is related to our music genre. Each of us are given a design style randomly and we need to fuse the style and our music genre together. We are to design at least 3 types of display and produce 6 a2 presentation board with a model during the final review.

I'm designing a headphone retail using the style organism with the main concept of water which somehow relates to my rhythm wall. Using the form of water, I focused more on the form of water waves which is the perpendicular wave and circular wave. The water flow design brings a sense of connectivity in the retail although there are separation of space for different areas. The connectivity in the front part of the retail is brought out by the connection of the wavy shelves with the listening booth and the purchasing counter. Another mild connectivity can be seen on the ceiling display when the shelves is elaborated to the ceiling becoming strands of hanging display coming out from the perforated ceiling. To create a connection from thefrontpart to the back of the retail, I used rams instead of stairs and it also acts as a guide to bring the customers to the spaces accordingly so that they can experience the space thoroughly.
